Testimonials

Here are just a few testimonials from happy customers.

I had bought an older tenor dulcian that needed tuning and minor repairs. Owen did a terrific job troubleshooting and repairing it and was great to work with!

Madeline Zanetti

Dulcien Player

Thank you for your great work. The saxophone has never sounded better top to bottom. I played a couple of gigs, one loud and one quiet, and really - what a difference. Many, many thanks.

Owen completely restored a set of two very old clarinets for me. These instruments were virtually unplayable but Owen brought them back to excellent working order.

Repair Services

The repair of instruments can span a spectrum from simple re-corking of tenons to a complete overhaul. The following are some categories of types of work.

Complete Overhaul

An overhaul is considered when an instrument has become unplayable due to age or neglect. It involves a complete stripping down of all the keys from an instrument, the body washed, keys cleaned and polished, pads stripped, springs replaced where needed, wood oiled, and then a complete repadding and regulation of keys to bring the instrument back into playing condition.

Damage Repair

If an instrument is damaged, an assessment is required to determine the work needed and cost of the repair. This often involves removing any bends in the keywork and dents or damage to the surface of the body of the instrument and replacement of parts if needed.

Regular Instrument Servicing

A service is done to keep up maintenance on an instrument, usually once a year. This involves stripping the instrument down and washing the body, and oiling if wooden, cleaning of pads and keys, replacing any worn or torn pads (up to 3), oiling keywork, replacing any weak or broken springs and then re-assembling the instrument.
